Elle se situe \u00e0 environ 6000 ann\u00e9es-lumi\u00e8re de nous.<br \/>\nCe grand complexe de n\u00e9bulosit\u00e9s s\u2019int\u00e8gre dans une zone de n\u00e9bulosit\u00e9s encore plus vaste qui s\u2019\u00e9tend sur la quasi-totalit\u00e9 de la constellation du Cygne (qui est surement la partie du ciel la plus riche en gaz).<\/p>\n<p>Sh2-101 fait partie des r\u00e9gions actives de formation d\u2019\u00e9toiles et est ainsi associ\u00e9e \u00e0 des amas ouverts (comme NGC6871 situ\u00e9 au centre de la photo).
